2-Cycle Tiller
Every Mantis Tiller is lightweight, but our 2-cycle tiller is the lightest at an even 20 lbs. It is also the only version that can operate all available attachments, including the rugged trimmer bars. All 2-cycle engines operate on a gas and oil mix, so be prepared to blend the fuels. They tend to be noisier also, so early morning or evening gardening in a tight neighborhood community might be difficult. Starting usually takes 2-3 pulls on a recoil cord. Some folks would use nothing but a 2-cycle engine on all of their power equipment, and ours is one of the finest commercial grade 2-cycle engines available. |

4-Cycle Tiller
4-cycle equipment is becoming more popular in states
with certain emission and noise regulations in effect. They are
very quiet, easy to start and require no fuel mix. 4-cycle engines
are more expensive to produce, and so they cost a little more. If
trimming hedges is important to you, please note that our trimmer
bar attachments won’t operate with this unit. Some people
enjoy the confidence that comes with the Honda® name, and the
Honda/Mantis combination certainly provides that. |

Electric Tiller
Electric powered equipment is very easy to start and extremely quiet. If you live in a city environment with neighbors close by and your garden is near a power source, you can garden virtually anytime with this unit. Like all electric equipment, this tiller will require an extension cord, so allow for this when judging distance and maneuverability requirements. If trimming hedges is important to you, please note that our trimmer bar attachments won’t operate with this unit. Some gardeners prefer not to deal with gas or fuel mixes. If you’re one of those folks, be confident that our electric tiller packs the necessary power to do the tough tilling jobs required. |
